If you can believe it, Portland, Mating Calls has been airing for exactly one year today! đ± In honor of this lovely milestone, MTS and The Jerk bring you their very first âauditionâ playlist that was used to pitch their show concept.
Our first theme ever? Songs that remind us of moving to Portland. One of our most nostalgic sets to date, youâll hear selections that transport us back to a time when rent was more affordable, cigarettes were breakfast, and life for these doe-eyed babies was full of endless possibility (and references to Twin Peaks). Tracks include a Velvet Underground homage to a time before weed was legal, the psychedelic sounds of CAN reverberating off of a dorm room wall, and the new wave sound of The Cure that feels so quintessentially at home here in Portland.
