Since opening in the late ’90s, this pioneer of local ink parlors (P-town claimed fewer than 10 tattoo shops when Atlas opened, compared to around 83 now) has been our tat-crazed town’s de facto skin engraver of record.
Friends of Noise is a non-profit, educational, all-ages organization. Their mission is to provide safer and productive spaces for all-ages concerts, focused arts education, and leadership opportunities for youth with a focus on providing marginalized youth and youth of color access to performative creative expression. New Deal Distillery has been proudly crafting small-batch, award-winning spirits in Portland’s Southeast industrial district since 2004. Launched in 2017 in partnership with XRAY, KXRW is a station committed to serving and highlighting local voices in Clark County. They're an independent, volunteer-run, values-driven, community-supported organization dedicated to delivering quality programming with an emphasis on local voices. MusicPortland is the united voice of Portland’s music economy. They're a grassroots trade association and advocacy group, whose mission is to make Portland a better place to work in music. Their membership draws from all corners of Portland music—from musicians and labels to producers and venues—in an effort to create economic opportunity for all.
PAM CUT
The Northwest Film Center is now the Portland Art Museum's Center for an Untold Tomorrow - still offering classes, summer camps, artist services, and screenings challenging for whom, by whom, and how cinematic stories are told.
PDX Jazz is the largest organization presenting jazz performances and associated education programming in the Pacific Northwest. They present a two-week, multi-venue citywide jazz festival each February celebrating Black History Month that includes ticketed and free performances, films, artist conversations, lectures, masterclasses, exhibitions, and jam sessions; flanked by year-round seasonal concerts.
MetroEast Community Media
MetroEast uses media to invigorate civic engagement, inspire diverse voices and strengthen community life. Based in Gresham, they provide access to equipment and affordable training for community members interested in expressing themselves through video.
Flutter opened its doors in 2006 and is located on Mississippi Avenue in North Portland. Flutter, true to its tagline, is a delightful disarray of found objects and clutter. With its peacock blue walls, sparkling chandeliers and charming displays, this elegant shop combines classic, vintage and one-of-a kind items from around the world.

Wayfinder Beer

Show Bar is a lovely venue-within-a-venue of Revolution Hall, the grand structure originally built in 1906 (and rebuilt in 1924 after a fire) that housed Washington High School students, including such luminous alumni as Linus Pauling and James Beard.
Their Library Room features a gorgeously-lit stage with state-of-the-art sound for intimate performances and audience capacities up to 250. Show Bar offers a heated outdoor patio and a full bar, and their burgers are renowned.
Portland's Rum Club has been a perennial favorite for industry folks looking for a post-shift drink since Mike Shea first opened the bar in 2011. Shea worked behind dance club bars before teaming up with his best friend, Kevin Ludwig (of Beaker and Flask fame) to open a cocktail bar with one of the most extensive rum selections in town and off-the-beaten path modifiers including a collection of 5 different orange liqueurs. Many of the cocktail ingredients are made in-house, including a passionfruit syrup, mulled wine grenadine, and house-recipe tonic water.

Originally sprouting from DJ Bobby D's XRAY show, Night School, the Albina Music Trust is preserving North Portland’s music culture with programming that documents the Black community’s oral history, archival media, and special events. In collaboration with Albina musicians, founders Bobby Smith and Calvin Walker have brought to light a definitive catalog of historic regional music and the memories of its creators.

Oregon Humanities offers programs and publications that help Oregonians connect, reflect, and learn from one another. Each year, they offer hundreds of public conversations and programs across the state, train and support dozens of discussion facilitators, and award grants and fellowships that help people connect, reflect, and cultivate a stronger sense of agency in their communities. They publish stories that explore the thoughts, perspectives, and experiences of Oregonians, especially those who have been ignored, generalized, or oppressed.
Portland’s Human Access Project (HAP) was conceived in November 2010 by founder and Ringleader, Willie Levenson. He simply wanted to swim in the Willamette River and got a little carried away. HAP is a volunteer-driven, grassroots advocacy group dedicated to helping people “get into their river."
As river advocates striving to get things done, they’ve often made waves at City Hall and elsewhere – asking questions, pushing initiatives, forming relationships, and building support for more Willamette River access and beaches in Portland.
Located in Portland’s Historic Mississippi District: the acclaimed former neighborhood Baptist church turned recording studio turned music venue. The venue offers show-goers incredible acoustics and sight lines. We also smacked Bar Bar right onto the side the of Mississippi Studios back in 2010. Bar Bar is home to one of the best burgers in town. It is a fun spot which has two large outdoor covered patios, indoor seating, and a secret garden way in back.

Holocene is a music + arts venue, nightclub and events space in the core of inner-SE Portland. Since the summer of 2003, Holocene has been hosting touring acts from folk to minimal techno, Portland’s own most exciting musicians, unforgettable dance parties, and all manner of arts and multimedia parties that blur the line between highbrow and down-and-dirty.
Founded in 1999, Street Roots is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization in Portland, Oregon, that creates income opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and poverty by producing a newspaper and other media that are catalysts for individual and social change.

Launched in partnership with XRAY in 2018, The Numberz is a radio station committed to carving out space in media for Black Portlanders, in a city where gentrification has played a significant part in scattering their voices and neighborhoods. The Laurelhurst Theater became part of Portland's cultural and architectural history when it first opened in 1923. The original single screen could seat 650 people and was one of the first art deco style theaters of the period. Over the years the Laurelhurst has been added onto and now offers four auditoriums with modern amenities but still maintains its classic appeal. Now celebrating our 12th year as a theater and pub.
