Respected LadyLand - Pearl Woods: She Wore Many Hats

Pearl Woods was vocalist, songwriter, A&R person, label promoter, producer, and record label founder.
I first became aware of Pearl as a vocalist who was included in the Sue Records CD box set. She stood out to me not only because her record was so unique, they also included a photo of her (featured on the visual promo for this episode). It's a delightful photograph.
So, when I began seeing the name "Pearl Woods" in songwriting credits on records that I love, I was able to immediately recall that name and connect it with a person. I also have sought out copies of the handful of 45s she released as a vocalist. Unfortunately, finding concrete information about Pearl is about as difficult as getting my hands on her records.
On this episode I share the information that I was able to find (on the bright side, it's more than I found for Joy Byers) and I share some of my favorite renditions of tunes from the Pearl Woods songbook.
