Reckless Kelly, the powerhouse Outlaw Country band has been igniting stages with their electrifying fusion of rock and country music since their inception in 1996. Led by central Idaho natives Willy and Cody Braun, the brothers carry on a musical legacy spanning three generations.

Venturing from their Idaho roots, the Brauns made their mark in Austin, TX, twenty-nine years ago, teaming up with drummer Jay Nazz. Nazz's decision to join the band, just 5 credits shy of a college degree, marked the beginning of a journey that would forever alter Texas's musical landscape. Over nearly three decades, Reckless Kelly has not only become an integral part of the Americana music scene but has also earned prestigious accolades, including a coveted GRAMMY Award and the title of Outlaw Group of the Year at the 2024 Ameripolitan Awards. More recently, the iconic band has been nominated for Best Entertainer of The Year & Best Duo/Group of The Year in the 2025 Texas Music Chart Awards.

The band's impact extends far beyond their acclaimed recordings. Their annual festival, The Braun Brothers Reunion, recently celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2024. The three-day event in Challis, Idaho, brings incredible artists to Cody and Willy's hometown and raises a significant amount of money for the local community. The 41st Annual Braun Brothers Reunion is set for August 2025, with many fans awaiting this years highly-anticipated lineup.

At the end of this year, the band will turn the page on a new chapter, stepping back from traditional touring. Members still plan to write, record, and release new music as Reckless Kelly during this hiatus. They will perform a handful of special live events while also focusing on exciting solo projects, visual art, record production, and management endeavors.

Lead singer Willy Braun offers insight into the band's decision, 'It's important to us that our fans know that we all still truly love playing with each other. At first glance, it looks like a full-scale ‘retirement,' and that's not exactly accurate. We'll still continue to record music and perform live on occasion, but after 30 years on the road, we are looking forward to pulling back the reins a bit, spending more time at home, and exploring our other interests.' His big brother Cody agrees, adding, 'The satisfaction of playing a great show to an enthusiastic audience is something that can't be duplicated. We are inviting fans to come out and celebrate with us on this tour as we move in this new direction.'

Join Oregon Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts volunteer attorneys Ryan Mauck and Chris Weathers for an engaging exploration into the realm of Rights and Clearances for creative projects across various mediums, including fine art, photography, media, film, television, video games, etc. This workshop delves into the essentials for creatives looking to use anything belonging to someone else in their projects.

We'll cover key considerations for licensing and using third-party artworks, using individuals’ names, images, and likenesses, working with trademarks and logos, the use of generative artificial intelligence, and avoiding defamation in your work. Ryan and Chris will share real-world examples of challenges faced in creative projects and discuss strategies for prevention. This remote workshop will also offer plenty of time for questions and answers.

Ava Maybee (23) indie/pop singer & songwriter from Los Angeles, finished top 14 of American Idol Season 20.  She released six singles with over 15 million streams.. Ava has been featured in Nylon, Rollingstone Mexico, and graced the cover of the indy online magazine Beautiful Blood, among others. Dedicated to her philanthropic work, she is a junior ambassador for Children's Hospital of LA. Ava recently graduated from NYU / Tisch / Clive Davis Institute and just wrapped a 30 city U.S. tour with Beauty School Dropout.

You already know Phil Cook, at least if you've listened to any of the most essential folk-rock, indie rock, or even gospel records of the last decade. The spirited piano solo on Hiss Golden Messenger's "Day O Day," the incisive melody of Bon Iver's "AUTAC," the mesmerizing elegance of the keys on Hurray for the Riff Raff's "Life on Earth"-yes, those are all Phil Cook, a beloved collaborator capable of transforming an entire song with a pretty lick here, a sharp line there. The War on Drugs, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Ani DiFranco, Nathaniel Rateliff, Frazey Ford, the Indigo Girls: Cook's partnerships in just the last dozen years shape their own best-of.

But now, Phil Cook has returned to his first musical love: solo piano. It is, after all, the instrument of his upbringing and now the most direct line between his fathoms-deep sensitivity and the ears of his audience. On the new release, All These Years, Cook's playing-a chronicle of gorgeous and emotionally expansive meditations-reorients expectations of solo piano composition and improvisation. Indeed, that exquisite album is just the start for a player approaching the grand old instrument from the perhaps unlikely foundation of American folk music.

Two decades ago, Cook left his native Wisconsin for North Carolina, largely to be closer to the American roots music that had taken over his life. The blues, bluegrass, old-time, country: They formed a composite lingua franca for Cook, who began to deliver his keen understanding of these sounds with a guitar or a banjo, a slide or fingerpicks. He funneled that information into his pioneering avant-folk band Megafaun and subsequent duties as an in-demand sideman. But in early 2020, Cook paused his relentless touring duties with others, intent on focusing on how all his experiences and erudition could fit into his own songs. He found a cabin in the North Carolina mountains and woke early and wrote late, penning aubades and nocturnes and endearing reflections on his own life. The results feel like a mirror held to a heart and mind squinting to find light in our age of darkness, hope in a moment where it's easier to believe in its absence.

Traditional folk music, we are rightly told, was often the sound of people getting by, of chronicling despair and worry so that they might get through that stuff, if only for the next five minutes. Technique and melody and vocabulary aside, that is the absolute essence Phil Cook summons at the piano, whether supporting some famous singer or offering the warm flicker of his solo work. This is music that makes you glad to have heard it, glad that it exists, glad that you're here with the chance to be glad at all.

Mike Hanford is a comedian, writer, and actor. Currently, Mike stars alongside his Sloppy Boys bandmates Tim Kalpakis and Jefferson Dutton in the feature-length documentary BLOOD, SWEAT AND BEERS, about the making of the Sloppy Boys' latest album with legendary producer and musician Money Mark.  Mike has written for THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON and he co-created and starred in the critically acclaimed series THE BIRTHDAY BOYS, which ran for two seasons on IFC and was executive produced by Bob Odenkirk. Currently, Mike voices several roles in the Paramount+/Comedy Central animated series DIGMAN! starring Andy Samberg.  Mike played the recurring role of "Wade" on the Netflix comedy LOVE. Mike has written for and appeared on IFC's COMEDY BANG! BANG! and Comedy Central's ALTERNATINO. Hanford is a frequent guest on the Comedy Bang! Bang! podcast and is host of Questions for Lennon with John Lennon. Mike's television credits include THE UCB SHOW and BAJILLION DOLLAR PROPERTIE$, as well as Netflix's W/ BOB AND DAVID, Comedy Central's KROLL SHOW, IFC's PORTLANDIA, and NBC's PARKS AND RECREATION. Mike is also co-host of The Sloppy Boys Podcast with Tim Kalpakis and Jefferson Dutton, which Vulture named one of the best comedy podcasts of 2021. Mike regularly performs stand-up in NYC and is host of Mike Hanford and his Funny Friends.

The beloved St. Johns Bizarre returns Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in downtown St. Johns! (Find us at N. Philadelphia and N. Lombard — and all across the surrounding blocks!) We'll be serving up another a dynamite lineup of musicians, artisans, makers, creators, food vendors, community groups, and more, all ready to go — so you can sing, dance, eat, shop, and make merry 'til your heart's delight.

The St. Johns Bizarre street festival is a single-day event in the heart of North Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood, celebrating the unique character of the area. The festival has traditionally coupled itself to the St. Johns Parade, one of Portland’s longest-running parades. Last year, after we expanded our footprint, the Bizarre featured a record 180 vendors, selling an impressive array of handmade art and craft items, including jewelry and clothing, home goods, photography, and paintings. Also featured each year are a number of food vendors, as well as booths featuring local community organizations.
