HEAR TO BE HEARD: THE STORY OF THE SLITS
Director William E. Badgley in attendance!
A new documentary telling the tale of the formation, journey and end of the seminal Punk/Reggae band The Slits, the world's first all-girl punk band. Forming in London in 1976, they were contemporaries of The Clash & The Sex Pistols, and were the pioneering godmothers of the musical movement known as "Punky Reggae". The film tells the story of the band and the lives of the women involved, from the bands inception in 1976 to the bands end in 2010 coinciding at the death of lead vocalist Ari Up.
Sonic Cinema sponsored by Lagunitas, XRAY FM and Music Millennium
Bambi and Cole met on a basketball court, filming a music video for a band that didn’t have any music. After dating for six months, the two married under a blanket of smoke from the season’s forest fires.
Reptaliens quickly evolved from a conceptual collage of ideas into the bedroom recording project for the duo, captured with analog synthesizers, electric guitars, and melodic bass lines, and tape delayed vocals telling stories of science fiction, obsession, and transhumanism.
As long time, active participants in the Portland music scene, Bambi and Cole call on a number of talented musicians to guest on songs throughout the entirety of Reptaliens’ recordings and live performances. The band embraces the captivity of their audience with their sincere and theatrical performances.
Pay attention to the journey, from New Brigade, a juvenile delinquent take on post-punk, full of cold, distant condemnation, and onto the ecstasy of You’re Nothing, shedding the more aggressive hardcore influence and dragging in more light, a tendency followed on Plowing Into The Field Of Love. The intoxication is consistent, this has always been drunk music, but it’s less a stumbling confusion and more a sturdy heartfelt confession with each record. They have finally caught up with their ambition. Their entire charm has always rested in their running ahead of themselves with blind confidence, taunting you to follow and you follow because wherever they are going is vital, is alive; on Beyondless they are treading with an assurance that is disarming, but there is no loss of charm, you are arm in arm now, whispering intimacies.

Onion Music Fest, The Fixin' To, and XRAY.FM Present: A night of unique, soulful, and passionate expression, as we celebrate community and the upcoming OMF 2018.
Tribe Mars:
Tribe Mars is a guerrilla faction of freedom fighters combating against the forces of tyranny and systematic oppression through music, art, and spiritual practices learned from our extraterrestrial Martian brothers many lifetimes ago on the Red Planet.
Their expression through the use of their instruments channels these ancient practices and beliefs, which are then internalized and etched into the souls of those exposed to their tight grooves and soulful vocals
The Fur Coats:
The Fur Coats are a psych-soul-pop band from Portland, Oregon fronted by American sweethearts Chris Karl and Betty. Their lineup includes members of Wampire, Charlie Hilton and Reptaliens.
Onion The Man:
Psychedelic grooves ooze from the depths of their hot souls. Raw shallot force energy merges to create the layered vibrations that is Onion The Man. Residing in the northern realms of Oregon, four passionate artists birth, break, and surf the wave of contagious groove through melodic texture, rhythmic harmony, and musical empowerment. Riding the mothership upward and onward, the Onion family tours all over the west coast and organizes Onion Music Festival annually for the sake of bringing all paths of life together in the name of personal expression and humanity.

Music for desert picnics. Tuareg guitarist Mdou Moctar delves into his more sensitive side with a minimal studio recording of dreamy ballads. Thumping calabash, droning guitars, and vocal overdubs evoke an imagined desert soundscape. All instruments and vocals performed by Mdou only, creating a very personal and auteur sessions. Emotive and introspective, exploring themes of religion, spirituality, and matters of the heart.
After his underground success on the pirate mp3 networks of West Africa with his first release, the psychedelic autotuned “Anar,” (2008) he was featured on the Sahel Sounds compilation “Music from Saharan Cellphones” (2011) and launched a successful touring career. In 2012, Mdou relocated from his village to Agadez, the center of Niger’s guitar scene, and formed his band. Over the past years, he has become well known on the international circuit, playing high energy electrified music in festivals and clubs across Europe and North America. In 2013, he released his first international album, “Afelan,” rocking and raw sessions recorded live in Niger. In 2015, he starred in the first ever Tuareg language film, “Rain the Color Blue with a Little Red In It,” a Nigerien remake of “Purple Rain.”
Jeff Rosenstock was an anxious kid who grew into an anxious adult and has also made a bunch of music along the way with a bunch of bands, most notably Bomb the Music Industry! who apparently pioneered giving shit away for free on the internet - or at least got some of the credit for it.
I hope. I don't know, that's what I was going for at least.

Great Grandpa began in Seattle in 2014 when guitarist & vocalist Patrick Goodwin recruited bassist Carrie Miller, drummer Cam LaFlam, and vocalist Alex Menne to form a humble rock band. Inspired by the pop-sensible alternative rock of the 90's, and offset by a mutual love for noise and math rock, the group set forth to write and record their first EP.
During recording, guitarist Dylan Hanwright joined the group, solidifying the lineup. Great Grandpa began performing in the Seattle area in late 2014, frequenting the city's DIY venues. In March of 2015, their debut EP Can Opener was released on Broken World Media. The EP was met with considerable praise, and has been described as "warm, slightly off-kilter grunge pop", and "knotty, twisted, and warm rock music that's as melodically satisfying as it is, at times, confounding."
Great Grandpa began writing their debut LP soon after, and found themselves touring the western US and performing extensively in the Seattle area. Written in 2015 and 2016, Great Grandpa's debut LP Plastic Cough continues to explore the sonic territory visited in Can Opener, exhibiting infectious melodies across a range of backdrops, from quiet bedroom-pop to explosive, anthemic rock. Plastic Cough is out July 7th via Double Double Whammy.
